Chinese and Irish experts meet online discuss fighting COVID-19

On 3rd April, with the facilitation of the Chinese Embassy in Ireland, medical experts from China and Ireland held a video conference on combating COVID-19.

   

Liu Dongru, Deputy Director-General of Health Commission of Hubei Province gave an overview of the prevention and control measures and medical treatment practice in Hubei. Experts from Hubei Health Commission, Renmin Hospital of Wuhan University and Hubei Disease Prevention and Control Center briefed their experience of control measures, clinical diagnosis and treatment. Both sides had an in-depth discussion on the public health response structure, hospital admission and treatment, contact tracing, diagnostic tests, community protection and vulnerable group support.

Dr. Paul Reid, Chief Executive of HSE appreciated Hubei for sharing the valuable experience. The Irish side expressed their gratitude for the assistance of the Chinese authorities regarding the supply of essential medical equipment from China. Ireland will keep close contact and enhance cooperation with the Chinese side in combating the pandemic.
