Ambassador Yue meets SG of Foreign Affairs Department

On the afternoon of Thursday, 30th November 2017, H.E. Dr. Yue Xiaoyong, Chinese Ambassador to Ireland, had a cordial meeting at Iveagh House with Mr. Niall Burgess, Secretary General of the Irish Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade.

The Ambassador exchanged views with the Secretary General on a wide range of topics of shared interest, both expressing pleasure with the positive development momentum of the multi-faceted China-Ireland Strategic Partnership for Mutually Beneficial Cooperation.

Looking into the future, they reaffirmed the commitment of both the Chinese and the Irish Governments to further tapping into the immense potential in bilateral exchanges and pragmatic cooperation in various fields and sectors with a view to strengthening links and friendship.

Ambassador Yue briefed Mr. Burgess on the outcome, significance and implications of the 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC), and asked the Secretary General to convey his warmest congratulations to H.E. Mr. Simon Coveney T.D., who had just been appointed Tánaiste (Deputy Prime Minister) and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade.

Also present at the meeting were Counsellor Yang Hua, Deputy Head of Mission, Mr. Pan Xiongwen, Chief Political and Press Officer of the Chinese Embassy, Mr. Tim Mawe, Director of Asia Pacific Unit, Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, and Ms. Fiona NicDhonnacha, APU Deputy Director.
