Ambassador Yue visits LYIT

On 1 September 2017, H.E. Dr. Yue Xiaoyong, Chinese Ambassador to Ireland, was warmly welcomed to the campus of Letterkenny Institute of Technology (LYIT) in County Donegal.

The Ambassador met with Dr. Paul Hannigan, President of LYIT, Fintan Moloney, Chairman of LYIT Governing Body, Mr. John Andy Bonar, Head of Development and Ms. Jill Murphy, Chinese-language lecturer and official in the LYIT International Office, who studied in Beijing Normal University in China over 20 years ago.

President Hannigan gave Ambassador Yue an overview of the history, strengths and objectives of LYIT, expressing strong aspiration for LYIT to develop mutually beneficial partnerships with institutions of higher education in China.

Ambassador Yue expressed his confidence in the ever-growing Sino-Irish friendly relations, highlighting educational, cultural and people-to-people links as a significant part of the robustly developing bilateral cooperation between the two ancient and dynamic countries.

Ambassador Yue also met some Chinese students currently studying at LYIT.

Accompanying the Ambassador on this trip was Mr. Pan Xiongwen, Chief Political Officer of the Chinese Embassy.
